چکیده

The present study reports the effect of Spirulina on radiation induced hematological and biochemical alterations in Swiss albino mice. Animals of Group-I (Control, radiation alone) were exposed to gamma radiation (8 Gy), while, animals of Group-II (Experimental, Spirulina + Radiation), received Spirulina (800 mg/kg body weight) for seven consecutive days and were exposed to gamma radiation (as in Group-I). Hematological parameters were assessed at different intervals of post-irradiation from day 1 to 14. The average hemoglobin, total erythrocyte count and total leucocyte count in experimental group were significantly elevated as compared to the control group of animals. Treatment with Spirulina also caused a significant decrease in malondialdehyde (MDA) formation in the liver, suggesting its role in protection against radiation induced membrane and cellular damage. Results suggest that Spirulina modulate the radiation induced hematological and biochemical alterations in Swiss albino mice.

Genome Sequence of Carbon Dioxide-Sequestering Serratia sp. Strain ISTD04 Isolated from Marble Mining Rocks

The Serratia sp. strain ISTD04 has been identified as a carbon dioxide (CO2)-sequestering bacterium isolated from marble mining rocks in the Umra area, Rajasthan, India. This strain grows chemolithotrophically on media that contain sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) as the sole carbon source. Here, we report the genome sequence of 5.07 Mb Serratia sp. ISTD04.

Genome Sequence of Pandoraea sp. ISTKB, a Lignin-Degrading Betaproteobacterium, Isolated from Rhizospheric Soil

We report here the genome sequence of Pandoraea sp. ISTKB, a betaproteobacterium isolated from rhizospheric soil in the backwaters of Alappuzha, Kerala, India. The strain is alkalotolerant and grows on medium containing lignin as a sole carbon source. Genes and pathways related to lignin degradation were complemented by genomic analysis.

Finding Cliques of a Graph using Prime Numbers

This paper proposes a new algorithm for solving maximal cliques for simple undirected graphs using the theory of prime numbers. A novel approach using prime numbers is used to find cliques and ends with a discussion of the algorithm.
